Italian sculptor (Palermo 1858 - 1941). He studied in Palermo's Academy and was, in Rome, E. Rosa and E. Monteverde‘s pupil. Very industrious, he left in Italy and in other countries many monuments of celebrative genre (to F. Crispi, Palermo; to Anita Garibaldi, Rome ; to Goethe, Monaco of Baviera; Vittoria for Vittorio Emanuele II's monument, Rome (iter 1); monument to commemorate Victory, London; etc.). However his best work are the five bronze groups of the Naiadi (1901-4) for the fountain in Piazza dell'Esedra (now Piazza della Repubblica) in Rome (iter 3) , outstanding because of the agile and brilliant modeling and the composition immediateness, that recalls the elegance of the Liberty style.
