Italian sculptor (Florence around 1550 - Rome 1596). Giambologna's pupil, he sculpted in Florence (1569) the statue of the Inverno for Ponte di S. Trinità. Setting out to Tome, he built for the fontana delle Tartarughe (fountain of the Tortoises) in Piazza Mattei (iter 2) the four youngsters bronze figures that push the tortoises to drink in the upper basin (the animal figures, however, were added in the following century). His relief with La lavanda dei piedi (The Washing of the Feet) , now in the Quirinal (iter 3), reveals well his very fine taste for the elegance of details.
